I’m so glad you’re here
I'm Eden (pronounced “ED-in”)
I’m a mom to two sweet Boston Terriers, a professional homebody, plant lady, enthusiastic home chef and foodie, yogi, avid TV water and loving friend, sister, and spouse–despite what my average text response time might suggest.
I’m a first-generation American from a large, blended family with a mix of cultures, faiths, and perspectives. I welcome clients of all backgrounds, beliefs, and lived experiences. Whatever brought you here–and whatever makes you you–welcome.
I’m a recovering people-pleaser myself. So when a client tells me they said yes to something they didn't have room for, or that they're still rehearsing an apology they don't actually owe anyone, I understand the impulse.
I've always been sensitive to other people's emotions, sometimes to a fault. I’ve been drawn to helping the people around me feel understood, even before I had any language for why.
That sensitivity came from somewhere. I've spent over a decade in my own therapy, working through a complex trauma history, and eventually, a chronic illness that forced me to learn the hard way that pushing through isn't the same thing as being okay. There were mornings during my own stretch of overworking–while I was juggling a job in higher education alongside work at another agency–when I was already crying at my desk before 8:30am, and I still told myself I was fine and kept going.
My body eventually made a decision for me that I wasn't willing to make for myself. I've spent the years since learning how to listen to my body before it has to shout. I also know what it's like to live with an anxious mind that won't stand down, the kind that keeps anticipating things that could go wrong and solving problems that already resolved themselves an hour ago. I practice what I preach here, mostly because I've had to, and I know how long it can take to actually believe that needing help isn't the same as failing.
My background
I also have ADHD, and I'm neurodiversity-affirming in how I show up with every client, whether or not that's the reason they're here. While ADHD isn’t my primary treatment focus, I enjoy working with folks who have ADHD and understand how it can shape experiences both in and outside of therapy. I also spent fifteen years working in college disability services, supporting students with psychological conditions, ADHD, learning differences, Autism, and medical conditions–which means I bring real depth to that work, not just a training.
Earlier in my career, I also provided therapy in residential treatment to youth in the foster care system, with histories of complex trauma, abuse, and neglect. Together, these experiences taught me to look beyond the individual and consider how workplaces, families, institutions, societal pressures, cultural norms/expectations, and other systems may be contributing to what someone is carrying. I won’t treat burnout, anxiety, people-pleasing, or stress as problems that are solely yours to fix.
I believe one of the most powerful tools in this work is a healthy relationship with yourself and with the person sitting across from you. If you never got to see what that looked like growing up, we can build it here, and you can borrow it as a model for the relationships in the rest of your life too.
Whatever brought you here, I'd love to be the person who helps you work through it. If any of this sounds like you, schedule a free 15-minute consultation and we'll talk, see if we're a good fit, and go from there.
